Chelsea Handler Tickets - Handler Expresses Political Views

Chelsea Handler has never been one to hold back when it comes to her signature brand of capricious comedy, especially on her late-night TV show "Chelsea Lately". The quick-witted comedienne has garnered fame for skewering celebrities on the E! Network late-night program, but she's recently been going after something perhaps more newsworthy than the latest celebrities in rehab: politics.

Regular viewers of Handler's say-anything late-night show "Chelsea Lately" know that the New Jersey native sides heavily with the left when it comes to politics, and her political views have only been more pronounced in the days and months leading up to the Nov. 2 elections. Handler has expressed her voting tendencies through several outlets over the past year, and on the eve of Election Day this year she spoke with comedian, actor and political activist Eddie Izzard about who she was planning to vote for in this year's state elections.

During the Nov. 1 episode of "Chelsea Lately," Handler invited Izzard as her special guest to interview during the meet-and-greet segment of the program. She recognized that he had recently attended a benefit for California Senator Barbara Boxer and utilized the opportunity to plug Boxer for the election. Looking into the camera to talk, Handler stated, "I'm supporting Boxer. I will be voting for her tomorrow, as I hope anyone who is watching me will do... in California."

Handler's support for Barbara Boxer, a democrat, isn't the first sign of her voting tendencies. The comedienne is also an avid supporter of the LGBT community, proclaiming her support for what she deems "the gays" and even commending actor Chris Colfer (of "Glee") on a recent episode of "Chelsea Lately" for coming out about his homosexuality.

The sharp-tongued TV host also had no qualms about bashing former president George Bush's daughter Jenna on the show last summer. Blasting Jenna Bush and her family, Handler showed a clip of the former first daughter's gaffes from her gig as a correspondent on "The Today Show," in which Bush looks off to the side of the camera while reporting. On her show, Handler joked, "Jenna, I am so impressed with your talents. It's an interesting choice to not make eye contact with the viewers. It's pretty clear you got this job because of your father, much like your father got his job because of his father."

While politics sometimes join the conversation on the panel and nightly routine of "Chelsea Lately," the late-night TV program is hardly focused around American politics on a daily basis. Handler injects her sarcastic comments into the comedic show about celebrity news, feasting on stars' slip-ups and diva faux pas for the half-hour program. Her show is backed by a slew of similar-minded comedians, including Sarah Colonna, Whitney Cummings, Heather McDonald, Chris Franjola, Jo Koy, Brad Wollack and her assistant, Chuy Bravo.

Handler has also taken to stages across the country with her previously listed slew of "Comedians of Chelsea Lately," and the comedienne (and crew) is currently going strong on her Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang Tour, which is in support of her most recent book of the same name. Handler's brash comedy and clever antics are selling out Chelsea Handler tickets to stand-up comedy dates around the country, and she'll be bringing her anything-goes act onto stages across the U.S. throughout the winter months.
